What is Public Employment Services Office (PESO)?

   The Public Employment Service Office or PESO is a non- fee charging multi- employment service facility or entity established or accredited pursuant to Republic Act 8759 otherwise known as the PESO Act of 1999.

   To carry our fulfillment and equality of employment opportunities for all, and for this purpose, to strengthen and expand the existing employment facilitation service machinery of the government particularly at the local levels there shall be established in all capital towns of provinces, key cities, and other strategic areas a Public Employment Service Office. Hereinafter referred to as PESO which shall be community – based and maintained largely by the Local Government Units (LGUs), Non Government (NGOs) Community Based Organization (CBOs), Universities and Colleges, Technical and Vocational Institution, as well as those institutionalized by virtue of legislative actions of local government coordination and technical supervision, and to the DOLE central office, to constitute the national employment service network.

PESO Core Functions
  • REFERRAL AND PLACEMENT - is the process of directing pre- screened jobseekers to employers with vacancies matching their qualifications while placement is the result of a successful referral. This core function is a day to day activity in the Public Employment Service Office.

  • LABOR MARKET INFORMATION - The objective of the said Core function is to inform the public about the movement that affects the labor supply and demand.  The most effective means of information dissemination is the Jobs Fair. Jobs Fair shall be conducted periodically in one venue to bring together the employer and jobseeker for immediate matching.  LMI  also includes Local Recruitment Activity, Special Recruitment Authority, Barangay Caravans and Job posting .

  • EMPLOYMENT GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING - This core function is a process of assisting people intellectually and psychologically to make decisions about their career.  This can  be conducted  prior to job fair activity or any employment related activity to give applicants proper orientation which concerns job requirements and their qualifications.  Career Information Guidance for graduating students also includes in this core functions.
